Within the last week I started getting compile errors in Visual Trader, both in my desktop and laptop. OmniTrader is fine. Seems strange that only VT was effected and in two different computers. I had not even touched VT in the laptop.
I am wondering if anyone who is running Windows 10 and has Omnilanguage strategies or systems in Visual Trader has experienced these compile errors? I'm on VT Pre Release 3R.

I just fired up VT PR3 on a desktop and a notebook and there were no problems.

diamonjag:

I concur with MoMoney - I run VT PR 3R every day in real time and have had absolutely no problems. It's scary!

BTW, the main reason I use VT is as an intraday timeframe display to support OT. If I use an intraday timeframe in my OT EOD profile (I have an RT subscription) sooner or later it gets very s..l..o..w. I've had this problem with OT for as long as I can remember and was posting about it a year ago as well. I've given up pursuing it in OT and the VT solution is great.

Larry:

I agree that VT is great for real time.

As regards your OT problem check out the SymData.otd file in your OT2019/Database folder.

If it is rather large you might trying deleting it when OT is not running. It will regenerate when you reopen OT.

Also clearing your VBA/Temp folder when OT is not running might be of value. It too will reform when OT is re-invoked.

One other thing would be to clear the Results folder and it too will reform as you re-run Profiles.

I hope one (or all) of those help!

Thanks for that, Tom. I use a little batch file that deletes the all that every time I close OT.

del "C:\Program Files (x86)\Nirvana\OT2019\Database\Symdata.otd"
del "C:\Program Files (x86)\Nirvana\OT2019\Database\SymdataEOD.otd"
del "C:\Program Files (x86)\Nirvana\OT2019\Results\*.*"
del "C:\Program Files (x86)\Nirvana\OT2019\VBA\Temp\*.*"
echo off
pause

I've chased this problem for a long time and it seems it will be acceptable for awhile and then get back to the too slow to be usable state. I am only using one intraday timeframe of 60 min. The tech guys have been on more than one session with me too.

So, VT to the rescue while I wait for Godot <:)

Sorry to hear that some of my "go to" standard fixes don't do the trick for you.

Hi Larry,
In addition to what Tom mentioned you may also want to consider:

a) Go to VBA / Colour charts and delete all these folders.

b) With OT closed go to Brokerage and copy the brokerage file.

Then open OT and go to Tools / Repair Data Base / Open Repair Other Databases and go to Brokerage folder. On opening the Brokerage folder you will then see the Brokerage-Copy.otd. Open Brokerage-Copy.otd and the message Database Repaired will come up.

Then close OT - and go to Nirvana / OT / Brokerage / delete the existing Brokerage otd and rename Brokerage - copy.otd to Brokerage.otd
(ensure the name is exactly the same as per the deleted otd file)

The same process can apply to V.T. except here the process is slightly different:
a) Copy VT brokerage file

b) Open OT / Tools / Repair Other Database / This PC / Local Disk(C) /Program Files (x86)/ Nirvana / VT11 / Brokerage and repair the copied Brokerage file. Then follow the same process as per OT.

HINT - Prior to cleaning out folders I always empty the Recycle Bin. Then and if in case I mess something up - I can simple go to the recycle bin and restore everything.

NB: Last year Thad was assisting me on some compile issues via remote support. He mentioned to me how anti-virus systems may at times mess with a formulae. I have four machines two of which do nothing else but link OT etc to my IB accounts. Thad told me that one did not really need virus protection where only windows updates & OT / VT & IB were being used.

I thereafter un-installed the virus protection on these two trading machines only. To date I have not had one single problem ! I must add that on these two trading machines I am extremely cautious in ensuring that I do not open any "foreign" applications etc.

They are also supplied via an inverter.

Trust this helps and have a great weekend

Thanks for the suggestions, Keith. I will give that a try. Those are a couple fixes I had not heard before.

Apparently the problem is not wide-spread so hopefully it is the fix I need.

I appreciate the suggestions on this. I spent some time with tech support. We got some issues straightened out but not all. I haven't had time to go back and work on getting VT running again. Have printed out this thread for future reference. Will try your suggestions. Thanks.
